Deepika Padukone looks for Personality in Men

The adage once bitten twice shy sure seems to have taught actress Deepika Padukone a lesson.

The actress who was very open about her relationship with actor Ranbir Kapoor, soon after she set her foot in filmdom, has now decided to lie low and keep her personal life out of the public eye.

Though Deepika and Ranbir decided to be open about their relationship, there came a point when people only wanted to know what was happening in her personal life and that is when she decided to put a full stop.

“I do feel that when you are in the industry, it is very difficult for two actors to be in a relationship. Insecurities, constant travelling, and hectic schedules — it gets very difficult to keep up with it. Also if the guy and girl are somewhere in the same level, competition also comes in. It’s a very tricky territory,” she says.

While she is talking about the problems that come with being a celebrity, she also admits that talking about her relationship and putting it out there in the open was something she shouldn’t have done.

“I do agree that it was a mistake talking about my relationship in public. Today also because whatever you do is written about and publicised everywhere, whether it is a dinner or your flying out somewhere, everything is talked about. When Ranbir and I were seeing each other and there was so much buzz about the two of us being together that somewhere we said that let’s just talk about it because there really was nothing to hide. But when we came out clean, so much was being written and said all the time, whether we went out, fought or didn’t, his parents said something, my family did something, and a lot of it was created and that causes a lot of stress on a couple and their relationship and it is unnecessary,” she adds.

Refusing to talk about her relationship status currently, Deepika says she’d choose a man with a personality over good looks.

“Personality first for sure. There are so many men who I have seen and thought that they are so good looking, but when you go up to them and the minute they open their mouth it is like ‘okay thank you, never mind. I shouldn’t have spoken in the first place.’ But it is really ones personality that stands out. And I am not even talking about intelligence here.”

Deepika Padukone and Ranbir Kapoor trying to rekindle their chemistry!

Deepika Padukone and Ranbir Kapoor starting it all over again!
There is no looking back for Deepika Padukone and Ranbir Kapoor. Once lovers, who fell out of love in a bitter way, they are now trying to rekindle their lost chemistry. The two stars are meeting up regularly at director Ayan Mukherjee’s house. Hmm…what’s cooking?

Well, a film is in the making. The Wake Up Sid director Ayan Mukherjee has signed Deepika and Ranbir to play a couple in his untitled film, and as per sources, Ayan wants a great chemistry between the two. So, he is conducting ‘personal meetings’ at his house to ensure that Deepika and Ranbir are completely comfortable with each other before they start shooting for the film.

And the ex-lovers didn’t hesitate to do so. “They have now realized that a lot of the negativity was engineered and that none of them had a role to play in it. Both are now determined to be good friends which initially was the case before they started dating,” as a source is quoted as saying by a tabloid.

Ayan Mukherjee has made sure that his movie’s stars bond well and can leave behind the past, because if they still hold grudge against each other and fail to relight their chemistry, it would be hard to portray them as lovers on big screen.

Earlier the film was supposed to have Katrina Kaif opposite Ranbir Kapoor. But the matters took an unexpected turn and the untitled film fell in Deepika Padukone’s lap, and she was more than happy to do it.

Neil's first screen kiss with Deepika Padukone

Deepika Padukone has kissed Saif Ali Khan on screen, but her new co-star Neil Nitin Mukesh was a virgin kisser on camera. The conservative actor had no choice but to succumb to a liplock for Yashraj Films' 'Lafange Parindey'.

Neil has pulled out the plug on his no-kissing clause as he was virtually forced to do a long, lingering kissing scene with Deepika.

Director Pradeep Sarkar and Deepika had to use every possible power of persuasion before Neil abandoned his chastity vow.

'At first Neil was totally against the kiss with Deepika. He has refused to kiss in all his films,' said a source close to the project.

'In fact his first director, Sriram Raghavan, threw a fit when Neil refused to kiss Rimi Sen. In his second film, 'Tera Kya Hoga Johnny', director Sudhir Mishra insisted Neil kiss Shahana Goswami, but the actor refused. Even in 'Jail' where there was a love-making scene with Mugdha Godse, Neil refused to kiss,' the source added.

Conservative to the core, Neil plunged into his first kiss only after the director assured him that the romantic relationship needed a culmination.

'Pradeep persuaded Neil and he finally saw his director's point of view. But the actor was nervous. Deepika had kissed before on screen. Not Neil,' the source said.

'He first suggested a peck. But was finally persuaded to do a long, torrid smooch comparable in intensity and duration with Aamir Khan and Karisma Kapoor's kiss in 'Raja Hindustani',' the source added.

When contacted, Neil said: 'I can't talk about this. But, yes, we've gone completely by the requirements of the script. And 'Lafange Parinde' is my first love story.'
